Peggy and Narong spent an impossibly gorgeous Sunday afternoon in Pasadena with us for an engagement photography session ahead of their upcoming wedding this March. We kicked things off with a Polaroid to memorialize the most beautiful day I can ever remember. Stylish couple and a crisp blue sky, what more could we ask for?

After a quick change we headed to Eagle Rock for something a little less formal.

Lev Rukhin

I met Lev when I was in high school, he is bar none the craziest and most talented person I know, with a heart of pure gold. He was born in the USSR and emigrated to Texas, and both locales live large in his persona. Everyone that knows him has at least one epic “lever story.” Ten years ago he traveled the world on his motorcycle, aptly named Fulcrum, and came home with a volume of amazing photographs from his experiences and some harrowing stories of death defying adventures. Taken last week on my polaroid 600SE using Fuji 300b.

Shot last night in a downtown LA bar using same set up. 1/8 and 1/2 second respectively. I love this film.

Jamie’s all time favorite tree. This was taken yesterday just after we finished a family portrait session in Pasadena. Jamie was starrrrving but I just had to take a picture of her and these gorgeous trees. Wouldn’t you know it, I left the radio on and by the time we got back in the car the battery was dead. Any normal human being, grumpy from hunger would have given me grief. Jamie just laughed and handed me Elsie’s magna doodle from the backseat. I wrote a message and stood on the side of the road. About a billion people passed me up before a kind soul with cables pulled over and got us on our way. Hooray for kind souls. Hooray for Jamie. Hooray for rain and ginko trees in Southern California:)
