Jamie and i had four kids before the age of 30. Sounds crazy I know, and it hasn’t always been easy, but the best part about it for me is when I project into the future, and I see past the petty arguments they have into a future where they will always have a best friend to lean on, an ear to listen, someone to believe in and someone to cheer for. I try to share this future with them but it seems impossible to them now, so instead I drive to Santa Barabara on a whim, I fly them all the Australia, i stitch together what I hope will be the quilt of common memories and a bond that will last a lifetime.
I took this on my last pack of polaroid film in Santa Barbara a few weeks ago and (despite being woefully underexposed) I was struck immediately by how old and wise they both looked. God I love my kids.

She held the cabernet up to the light, slowly swirling the glass as she prepared to taste her second varietal. That’s when she noticed Greg pounding his fifth glass, looking far too anxious for a man in the midst of a wine tour. She followed him outside as the rest of the tour headed in to see the distillery. What was he up to? Five minutes later, under the shade of a trellis with miles of callaway winery grape vine stretching out behind her, Stephanie figured it out. Greg got down on his knee and asked Ms. to become Mrs. Five months later they decided to go back to the callaway winery with us in tow to memorialize this very special place. We had a blast taking pictures, drinking callaway wine and looking forward to their wedding this August. Thanks for a great afternoon and a great bottle of wine too!

I brought the hasselblad along for this shoot, typically I shoot polaroid and black and white with this camera but I’m loving the color and the square format!

Love this set.
Peeked into the distillery as they’d missed out on this last time, for good reason;)

Horizon | Dusk or Dawn

We made a quick trip to Vegas this weekend. I pulled over about twenty miles outside of the city when I saw this amazing setting. When you think Nevada this is not the picture that come to mind, and what struck me as I stood outside the car, traffic screaming by at a million miles and hour, was that if I had been dropped into this place without context, it would be impossible for me to tell if it was dusk or dawn.

So much of the time, this is how life feels isn’t it? Change is always coming, but sometimes (most times?) it’s hard to decipher if you are standing before the dawn of something new, or looking into the twilight of something fading.

Taken with polaroid 600se and fuji 100b. Anyone want to guess if this if this was dawn or dusk?

Averi and Pearce

Averi and Pearce are awesome. Fuji 100c is also awesome. Enough said.

Fuji 3000b is the most awesome though, especially when plopped into this camera. Thanks to this guy for pointing me to that camera. If you like sun, mad photo knowledge and being inspired, there may still be a few open seats for his workshop this July in San Diego, I highly recommend.

Elsie loves Averi, they played dress up for about twenty hours this weekend.
