Color shot on expired polaroid film with my hasselblad 501c with 80mm. Below shot on polaroid 600SE with fuji 300b. I gave the positives to aaron and judith to take home, so I scanned the negatives and inverted in ps.

Push film from the Impossible Project continues to be a fun challenge I’m trying to figure out. I found my early attempts with the film were too soft and I wanted to experiment to create more contrast. I read that heat will produce more contrast if applied immediately after exposure and I’ve tried putting it close to my body but decided to do something a bit more drastic with these. I developed the close up by prepping a flat bottom kettle at simmer. As soon as the image ejected I covered it with black paper and placed the kettle directly on top. This created some great contrast but uneven color (it may have burned the image!) The second shot I used a hot water bottle and I think it created a more even result. Happy weekend everyone!

PX70 Color Shade Polaroid Film

I just received my first few boxes of the all new Polaroid PX70 color shade push film. I am so excited about learning how to use this film and experimenting with it, I hope to incorporate this film into my weddings next year! I love this film because it delivers the promise if the unexpected, I can control content and composition, but the color will be impacted by the whims of heat and light. I think the key to shooting this kind of experimental film is to try to find your own look with it despite its inconsistency, I’m excited to get started! Happy weekend everyone:)

Happy New Year; a quote and a few polaroids

We drove up the California coast just before the New Year. We drove north on the 101 to San Louis Obispo before taking PCH up past Hearst Castle, Big Sur, Carmel and finally Monterrey. I can’t imagine a better way to end a year, or start one for that matter. The vistas are breathtaking, the North California coastline is unmatched in its raw beauty.

I’ll leave everyone with a quote from the book I took with me on our journey, and a few of the polaroids I took on our little adventure.

My Heart’s Not Strong

Polaroids and film scans from my brother’s launch party. This is his most mellow song, but is a personal favorite. My favorite line is “life’s for loving, so love with joy.” A great message but also a perfect representation of who he is, the most loving, giving and mature 21 year old I’ve met. Very proud to call him a brother and friend.

More Thanksgiving Morning Polaroids

These were all taken just outside my house. It’s fun to find new places to take portraits and sometimes the best spots are right outside your front door.
I shot these using expired polaroid film and my hasselblad, a combination that creates a nostalgic look that I can’t get with fuji instant. I’ve scanned and blown up some of my polaroids and they looks oh so amazing on the walls.

Yes, these are women’s sunglasses. My brother will wear whatever he finds around the house. In high school his favorite article of clothing was a fuzzy, bright red women’s blazer. Somehow he kind of pulled it off.

These last two were taken with the contax and polaroid back…orginals look far crisper than these scans:(
