jamie + kathrin

Jamie and I had the privilege of photographing the most amazing destination backyard wedding in Patterson, New York. We love destination weddings, while we love photographing weddings in Orange County and Los Angeles, there’s nothing quite as romantic as a little weekend getaway (just one of the many perks of photographing wedding with my wife:). The first thing we do when we book an out of town wedding is to add the place to our iPhone weather watch. This happened to be the weekend that Hurricane Bill flirted with the East Coast, iPhone reading for New York that day was ‘wet and sticky.” Fortunately, Jamie and Kathrin have a gorgeous home with huge windows that let in all kinds of buttery light, so while the guests spent the morning gathered in the home, all hoping for a break in the rain we happily photographed the beautiful couple to take their kinds of the downpour outside.
In what has to be one of the best moments of any wedding we’ve attended, as Kathrin headed toward the alter the downpour stopped and the sun came out. Kathrin playfully flipped her umbrella in the air and the wedding started, bathed in sunlight!

The moment when the sun finally appeared….the throwing of the umbrella. Rainy day wedding no more! wedding_087 new york wedding photography

This duo was so amazing. The live cello and guitar was such a perfect touch for this backyard wedding. It literally brought tears come to (my) Jamie’s eyes. Falling slowly by Glen Hansard is all I have to say. wedding_088 new york wedding photographyAfter the ceremony, before everyone came out of the tent, we caught such an intimate and romantic moment. One of my favorite shots of the day.

A few shots from their photobooth turned mudbooth. The rain and mud didn’t stop anyone from having a great time at this amazing upstate new york wedding!

You made a stormy east coast setting look amazing. You captured the bride so well–I totally get her personality–strong, living life–she is no shrinking violet!–and of course, beautiful. I loved the pictures of her waiting under the tent and the ones of the couple in the forest. What a cool, funky, unique wedding–I love it!

As the mother of the bride, I want to thank both photographers for doing such a wonderful job of capturing the best moments and taking such beautiful photos.
